Anagenessis2 Tests

Description

I was testing the new Anagenessis 2 shader yesterday so I thought I would share the results for those of you who may be on the fence about purchasing it or not.  Here we have two G3 models (Malichai and Liam) along with the Genesis Skullcrusher Ogre.  All I did was load the figure, duplicate it, move one to the left, and then apply the default Anagenesis shader to the model.  Well, that's what I did with the two G3 models.  They already had iRay surfaces.  For the Genesis model, I also used the script in the Materials folder of the Genesis line to convert it to iRay.  There were no PS adjustments made of any kind.  I just used it to combine the images into one file.

What do I think?
I think it is a great shader, but like all tools, it doesn't work well for every situation.  You don't use a flat head screwdriver if you have a Phillips head screw.  Take Malichai for instance.  There are things I like about the A2 version.  The eyebrows are more realistic.  The skin on the neck has that razor burn bumpiness that some men get.  Also very realistic.  The nose, on the other hand, looks like he suffers from rosacea which is realistic, but not what I tend to want in my models.  Lastly, his lips look chapped.  Again, realistic, but not what I want.  You may have noticed that I tend to lean towards models that are high on my personal f**kabiltiy chart.  Liam is a definite improvement all around, IMO.  Here the A2 shader shines.  His lips are a bit over textured, but I can live with it.  I'd say the Ogre is also an improvement.  I mean, WOW!  He went from looking like a plastic toy to actually looking like the skin might be real.  Just look at the bumpiness of his skin, and those teeth are just awesome.  My dentist would die if I came in with teeth looking like that, but for a monster they work.  The eyes in all three models are a bit shiny.  I'm not going to argue though considering I've struggled in the past to get a character's eyes to reflect the light.  I'll deal with shiny.

Am I happy with the purchase?
Good golly, yes.  I think this is going to be an awesome addition to my runtime library.  It may not work in every situation, but nothing does.  This being my first time using it, and admittedly without reading the manual (if there is one), I'm sure I'll get better with the tool.  Defaults are just starting points.  There are settings I can try to alter the results.  I'm sure there are manual tricks I can use even after that.  I can hardly wait to see how it handles an M4 skin converted for G2 or G3.

Hope this is helpful to anyone trying to decide whether or not to purchase the product.  As always, thanks for looking.
